Foundation

Johnny Cash helped out with the SOS Children's Village foundation where he made a generous donation from the proceeds from his recording of "The Ballad of Annie Palmer / The Worried Man". Cash dedicated the single to "his" SOS Children's Village in the hope that "more neglected children will find new hope, love and a home."

In addition, the Cash had close ties with the first SOS Children's Village built in Germany. While stationed there as a young GI, Cash witnessed the construction of the SOS Children's Village in Diessen am Ammersee.

During his 1994 European tour, concert organizers invited a group of children and mothers from the SOS Children's Village to meet the singer after his appearance in Munich.

In 1997, these contacts were renewed when an SOS Children's Village delegation from Diessen met with Cash before his concert in Munich.  The delegation presented Cash with a book "Africa's Children", which deeply touched Cash.

After his death in 2003, Cash's family asked that donations be made to SOS Children's Villages in his memory. Today fans of Johnny Cash can honor his memory with a donation that helps SOS continue their work for orphaned or abandoned children around the world.
