In baseball, 2 teams of 9 players. Each team takes turns batting and fielding. The team that is fielding has to get 3 outs on the batting team in order to switch from fielding to batting. They can get the 3 outs multiple ways, click here for examples of ways to get out. Players on the batting team take turns hitting against the pitcher of the fielding team, which tries to prevent runs by getting hitters out. A game consists of 9 innings, an inning is over when both teams get one turn batting (the visiting team gets the first at bat). The team with the most runs at the end of the 9 innings wins. If the game is tied by the end of the 9 innings, then the game can go into extra innings.
