Folkstyle wrestling is most commonly practiced at college, university, and highschool levels.
The wrestlers are matched by weight class so that you are wrestling someone your size.
In folkstyle wrestling it is required to wear headgear which protects your ears.
A folkstyle wrestling match is 3 periods with each period containing 2 minutes.
If the match is tied by the time the 3 periods are over then th match goes into sudden victory overtime.
One of the main rules in folkstyle wrestling that is not present in the other two is that when you are on top you can not lock hands.
