History

Piano itself was created around 1655, but it was inspired by the harpsichord, which dates back many, many years. Most modern pianos are made with 88 keys, but the first piano had a total of only 54 keys.

The creator of the first piano didn't like the way the harpsichord controlled the sound, so he switched the string-plucking mechanism to a hammer-like movement. That decision ultimately changed the piano for years to come. It also enhanced the sound that the actual intrument made in general.

The first piano, (early 1700s) was simply made from a wooden frame. Modern pianos are made out of a more complex wood like mable, and crafted from all parts of the world. High carbon or steel are used for the strings, and the soundboard is crafted from spruce wood.
