First Generation Paint Scheme Second Generation Paint Scheme

All chrome trim converted to matte gold, rims painted gloss black with a hue of matte gold.

Paint used: Rustoleum Gloss Black, Matte Gold, and Matte Clear Coat Enamel

All trim painted gloss black, rims painted gloss black, grille painted gloss black

Paint used: Krylon Gloss Black and Gloss Clear Coat Enamel

Both generations used the same painting technique. Three coats of the colored paint, in this case three coats of gloss black in increasing coat heft.

The first generation deviated by adding a light coat of matte gold between the second and third coat of gloss black, resulting in a speckled gold look.

The second step for both was three coats of clear coat enamel. However, the second generation utilized 4 coats of clear coat.

The first generation also deviated from this by using another light coat of gold between the second and third clear coat layers.

The superior method continues to be the second generation.
