The Bear

The bear is the MHMB mascot. He was born on August 2nd, 1969, and turned 50 this year. The bear wears the original full marching band uniform. At band camp, the students are not allowed to eat until the bear has been placed in the room. The bear represents our pride and motivation to the band. Seperate from being the Monroe Hornets, the band also has the bear as our own mascot. Alongside the bear, there is a mascot for each section of the band. On the BearĀ“s birthday, the senior Head Bear passes down the honor to a very deserving junior. Then, the junior will carry the bear through snake dances, to games and so much more.
