The trumpets are an essential part to the winds. They can reach very high pitches and usually end up playing the melody. This year, Caleb Mostyn and Emily Kesterman played the trumpet solos for the song Bohemian Rhapsody. They also played as the trumpets in the small ensemble for Crazy Little Thing Called Love. - Although trumpets are a smaller instrument, the tubing is up to 6.5 feet long! That is taller than the average human!
- The trumpet is over 3500 years old. The first trumpet ever discovered dates back to at least 1500 BC
- The trumpet only has 3 valves. However, 45 distinct notes can be played on the trumpet by the manipulation of the valves
